Soft Matter World

Welcome to Soft Matter World!

A new web-site all about soft matter science

Soft Matter (or soft condensed matter) is the study of materials which are neither crystalline solids, nor simple liquids - they are somewhere in between! This interesting state of matter can take many forms and can be seen everywhere in the world around us.

Some everyday examples of soft matter include, soaps, paints, gels, plastics, glues, liquid crystals and most of your own body...

Our goal is to provide a focal point for the soft matter research community around the world and to inform students, educators and researchers of all levels about this fascinating topic

Soft Matter World News masthead

Soft Matter World includes all areas of soft matter physics, chemistry and materials science, covering everything from liquid crystals, polymers and gels to biomolecular assembly and the interface between hard and soft condensed matter.
